Introducing Claudia: An AI Creation Selling Nudes Online at 19

Date:

Introducing Claudia, the artificially intelligent 19-year-old who has Reddit users fawning over her “nudes.” Claudia, who has a dark-haired and innocent appearance, is actually a creation of two computer science students, who have asked to remain anonymous and have earned about $100 from selling AI-generated photos of her. A post of her on the r/Faces subreddit, resulted in comments from some users that the fantasy woman was in fact an AI creation.

The Claudia Reddit account is mainly devoted to adult content to the delight of Reddit users. However, the emergence of AI-generated models in the adult entertainment industry has resulted in staunch supporters and protesters. Unstable Diffusion, a group campaigning to legitimize AI-generated porn, raised close to $60,000 on Kickstarter before they were ultimately removed from the website. This has sparked ethical concerns as photographers and artists worry about AI possibly undermining their work.

Despite the ethical quandary, the students who created Claudia stated that the account was started as a joke after reading about someone making $500 off of pictures of real women. They used Stable Diffusion to generate the photos with a prompt that included words such as “without makeup, with black hair, shoulder length hair, simple background, straight hair, hair bangs.”

The potential of AI-generated content has led to questions about whether laws are equipped to handle the possible harmful ramifications of it. Photographer Presley Ann believes it can be an issue for people’s livelihood, pointing to the need for more regulation.

Claudia’s emergence has opened up a conversation about the possibilities of artificial intelligence and the ethical considerations that come with it. It is essential for those behind not just Claudia, but all AI-generated adult content to be aware of the ethical considerations that come with these creations, to ensure the safety and well-being of the people involved.
