Where to Find Fun and Weird Mixtape Energy That’s Not Apple Music or Spotify?

Date:

Apple Music and Spotify are two of the most popular music streaming services available today, offering an exciting and accessible way for people to access just about any song they might want to listen to. But while easy listening and a vast library are great, the feeling you got when that perfect mixtape came together or catching a perfect DJ mix live just can’t be replicated by the streaming services available today.

Where is the personal touch of making a unique playlist by adding in funny skits or motivational speeches between songs? Where is the fun and weird side of custom-made mixtapes, which your friends would know was special just for them? With both Apple Music and Spotify, there isn’t much freedom to do something interesting or creative with music. After all, the music is kept within the confines of the service for copy protection purposes.

Apple Music has taken the first step in introducing more creative features with the addition of ‘Apple Music Sing,’ which removes vocals from songs and adds the lyrics to the screen, allowing your inner karaoke artist to shine. It’s a start but more could be done by the music streaming apps to get creative with the tunes at our disposal.

Imagine if we could easily switch the audio levels between songs in playlists, doing special transitions between songs, or recording messages between them? With Apple Music, you can even make video playlists and could maybe even record yourself in between them. And, as Apple does have depth-sensing tools in its Clips app, what about the chance to add yourself into music videos!

However, these features may be in the lab at Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal but can’t be released due to the limitations placed on them by the music companies. So, could the music streaming companies take up the challenge to give us more of a chance to be creative with music? AI-driven DJing could be used to maximize the potential of playlists, with settings for how subtle or dramatic you want the mixing to be.

It would bring back the feeling of creating special mixtapes for friends, and bring more life to our existing music streaming services. After all, giving people the chance to express themselves creatively could get them even more into music and performance, and that would benefit the music industry too.

The companies mentioned in the article are Apple Music and Spotify, two of the biggest streaming services available today. Apple Music was created by Apple Inc, an American multinational technology company headquartered in California. Spotify on the other hand is a Swedish audio streaming and media-services provider launched in 2008. Both companies provide users with the ability to listen to their favorite music and discover new songs.

The person mentioned in the article is teenage me, who used to make personalized mixtapes for his friends. It involved various components such as inserting movie quotes, comedy skits, and personal messages between the songs. Although it is much easier now to find and make recordings digitally, it is harder to make something like that today than it was before because of the limitations imposed on music streaming services.
