How to Save Your Job from ChatGPT? Tips Shared by Genpact COO Shibu Nambiar

Date:

Genpact COO Shibu Nambiar recently shared tips on how to save your job from generative AI and the impact it has on hiring freshers. While AI has made work easier, some fear that with AI becoming more advanced, regular jobs may become difficult to hold. However, Nambiar believes that reskilling and adapting to the new world that AI will bring can prevent jobs from being taken away. According to Nambiar, it is essential to stay current and not resist change. Knowing a new technology at a surface level is not enough; one must also do an in-depth analysis of it.

Nambiar wishes that vocational training and subject matter expertise played a more significant role in hiring freshers instead of just looking at college degrees. Communication skills and knowledge of mathematics, physics, and applied statistics are core skills that are necessary. Nambiar also believes that people who have an appetite for doing well for themselves will also do good for others. To continuously learn and upskill, Nambiar advises people to raise their hands and grab the opportunity when it comes.

Nambiar advises that people identify their primary stakeholder, which is the end customer, 99% of the time. If one’s role creates a positive impact on the customer, chances are that their organization will immediately recognize them. Instead of focusing on making more money, one should focus on the outcome, as money will automatically follow. According to Nambiar, generative AI is not new, and one should not be shocked, as it has been around for at least a decade. By staying current and being ready to adapt, one’s job can be saved from AI.
