Toyota Unveils Advanced AI-Powered Tool for Vehicle Design

Toyota Research Institute (TRI) has revealed a new AI-powered tool designed to help vehicle designers. The generative tool uses text prompts to help designers generate design sketches with specific attributes such as modern and sleek. Additionally, quantitative performance metrics can be applied to create an initial prototype sketch. The tool allows designers to explore their creativity while ensuring effective design development: the algorithm allows designers to optimise engineering constraints such as ride height and cabin dimensions which aid in improving image generation. Computers can handle the complex engineering and safety considerations which go into actual car design thus allowing users to add guide rails to generative designs from AI. The technology is currently in the research phase, but the company plans to integrate the tool into its vehicle design and development processes.
