Hackers breach over 100,000 ChatGPT accounts: Chat history and sensitive information at risk.

Over 100,000 ChatGPT accounts have been hacked, compromising sensitive information including chat history. It was discovered by Group-IB, a cyber intelligence firm, that information-stealing malware stole the login credentials of over 100,000 users between June 2022 and May 2023. Asia Pacific was the main target, accounting for 41% of the compromised accounts. Hackers were successful in getting access to user data and ChatGPT message history due to OpenAI’s lack of two-factor authentication on its website. The stolen credentials give hackers access to sensitive information related to the proprietary code of firms integrating ChatGPT into their workflows. OpenAI’s security measures have been put into question as this is not the first time it has faced a data breach. ChatGPT, with the fastest-growing consumer application in history, is expected to have multi-factor authentication to be more secure.
