Real-time database vendor, Aerospike, has launched Aerospike Graph, expanding its multi-model offerings. Aerospike began as a NoSQL database for advertising apps in 2009 before evolving into a real-time database platform for adtech, financial services and customer data platforms. The addition of Aerospike Graph enables the platform to be useful for fraud detection, among others. Subbu Iyer, CEO of Aerospike, said that his company’s platform is really suited well for high-performance at scale, low latency and high availability, so that’s what pushed us into looking at graph to really go after this space." Iyer added that Aerospike Graph separates compute and storage capabilities.
Aerospike used the Apache TinkerPop project as the open-source base to build its graph database, rather than developing it entirely from scratch, adding its own commercially supported version of TinkerPop. In the future, Iyer said Aerospike could support other query languages for graph databases. Artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are also high on Iyer’s agenda, with the core Aerospike database platform already used by organizations as a feature store for AI pipelines, according to Iyer.
