‘Factory in a Box’ Aims to Take Affordable Electric Vehicle Production Worldwide

British start-up Helixx has come up with an innovative way to bring affordable electric vehicles (EVs) to the masses. Rather than build the cars themselves, the company has created a factory in a box blueprint that customers around the world can use to build their own vehicles. Called mobility hubs, the factories are designed by Helixx to suit market demand, space availability and client budgets. The software platform pulls together all the necessary components, including architecture, digital operations, equipment and training. Once installed, the hub is integrated into the Helixx ecosystem, allowing customers to use an app to manage orders and other details. The approach is designed to democratise EV production and save clients money and time. The vehicles themselves will be offered for hire at rates starting at $0.25 an hour.
