Researchers from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and technical university EPFL have created a tomato-picking robot with the help of AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT. The chatbot offered a range of ideas during the design process and suggested the creation of a tomato-harvesting robot. The team listened to all of ChatGPT’s design decisions. ChatGPT extended the researchers’ knowledge to other areas of expertise. The chat robot taught them which crop would be most economically valuable to automate. Job losses from robots, including fruit and vegetable picking, have long been speculated on. The end result was a robotic arm that can harvest tomatoes.
