AI-Based Chat Platforms: Will They Replace Jobs or Enhance Human Workforce?

According to a new report by ServiceNow and Pearson, the rise of artificial intelligence (A.I.) technology means that millions of jobs will be replaced, but many more will become more human. While A.I. is likely to augment the work of many by taking over tedious tasks, there is also concern that partnerships between human and A.I. will result in the takeover of jobs. The report estimates that the impact of A.I. on the workforce will vary greatly by country and industry. In the US, for example, 4.9 million jobs could be augmented by A.I., while 23.5 million jobs will be eliminated. The retail sector will be the most affected in the UK, Japan, and the US, while the manufacturing industry in India will experience the greatest change. However, the report also suggests that opportunities will arise for non-tech workers with the right reskilling to step into new tech roles, such as data analysts or platform owners. The report warns against businesses simply replacing workers with technology, advising instead that companies should focus on reskilling workers to maximise the potential of A.I. technology.
