Frances Haugen Calls for a Free Market Movement

Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen has called for a free mark movement to address the shortcomings of social media giants. Haugen gained notoriety for leaking internal documents to the media that showed Facebook’s refusal to address major issues despite employee pleas. She has since published a book that details her journey through Silicon Valley and tells the story of how she became one of her former employer’s most vocal critics. Haugen has also launched a nonprofit called Beyond the Screen to educate people about social media. In a recent interview, she discussed her book, her life as a crusader for safer social media, and the possibility of the liberation of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Haugen likened Zuckerberg to a prisoner, much like Britney Spears once was, and warned of emerging threats posed by virtual reality and AI.
