Microsoft Rushed Bing AI Co-Pilot Despite OpenAI’s Warning: Report

Date:

Microsoft forged ahead with integrating its unreleased GPT-4 integration into its Bing search engine despite warnings from OpenAI about its inconsistent language model, according to the Wall Street Journal. The AI-powered search engine, Bing AI Copilot, was initially marred by inaccuracies resulting in Microsoft limiting Bing Chat responses. OpenAI had warned Microsoft of the risks involved in rolling out a chatbot-based feature using GPT-4, which sent an alert to Microsoft employees who feared Bing might be overshadowed by ChatGPT, OpenAI’s model. Microsoft invested billions in OpenAI to gain early access to its generative AI technology. ChatGPT, already used by 200 million monthly users, is one of the fastest-growing consumer apps in history.
