Professors Scramble to Adapt to ChatGPT Technology Challenges

As professors and students scramble to adapt to a new education landscape amid the COVID-19 pandemic, another challenge has presented itself in the form of generative AI systems. Since their arrival in late 2020, faculty members have been grappling with how to deal with new questions arising from their use and how to identify cheating. A recent survey conducted by The Chronicle revealed that some professors considered any use of AI to be cheating, while others embraced it as preparation for an AI-infused future. To help prevent cheating, professors are planning to set ground rules from Day One, while others are considering incorporating AI into their teaching. However, it remains a challenge for instructors to keep up with rapidly evolving technology and increasingly savvy students.
