Improving Health for US Citizens with Machine Learning and AI

The Healthy Nevada Project, one of the first community-based population health studies in the US, is offering free genetic testing to state residents and applying machine learning and AI techniques to generate insights into individual and population health. The non-profit initiative, developed by the Desert Research Institute Center for Genomic Medicine, is building a health and genetics profile for thousands of individuals by combining genetic and environmental data and information from electronic health records and government departments, including birth and death records and information from the Environmental Protection Agency. By mining the combined data, researchers and physicians can personalise healthcare and help entire communities to improve their health and wellbeing.
