Teton.AI Raises $5.3 Million for AI-Based Nurse Workflow Management Solution

Date:

Teton. AI is a Danish startup that is leveraging artificial intelligence to help nurses in medical facilities manage their workflow more efficiently. At the same time, the company seeks to reduce and solve the nursing shortages that have become an increasingly important issue in the western world. The startup recently raised $5.3 million in a fund raising round led by Plural, with strategic angel investors like Finn Murphy and Taavet Hinrikus also participating.

To enable nurses to optimize and navigate their patient management more effectively, the startup makes use of AI-driven “capturing units”, including smart cameras that use computer vision to monitor the interactions of patients with their environment, before turning the data collected into useful information and insights. Furthermore, the startup’s “AI companion” alleviates some of the tedious paperwork nurses must invariably do. By charging a subscription for their product, the company is bolstered in its ambitions to expand their reach to hospitals, municipalities, and care homes across the Nordics and possibly even into the US, the UK and Germany.

Teton’s CEO, Mikkel Wad Thorsen, believes that their AI-driven solutions can contribute significantly towards improved patient management and better quality care. Thorsen has a strong commitment to data privacy and as such, patient-related data is never uploaded to the startup’s servers.

Taavet Hinrikus, a key investor and the cofounder of fintech Wise, attributes the surge in medtech investments in Europe to a rise in AI-driven solutions. It often takes courage and ambition to invest in a relatively unknown startup, but the company was able to take on the challenge. Teton is now projected to use this capital to continue to expand their team and their products, and the success story continues.
