Oracle’s Larry Ellison Confirms New Generation AI Service with Cohere during Earnings Call

Oracle, the software giant known for its database technology, has announced that they are developing a new cloud service with Toronto-based startup Cohere, which specialises in building and training large language models (LLMs). As part of the announcement, Oracle’s founder and Chief Technology Officer, Larry Ellison, confirmed during the company’s earnings call that the new AI service will make it easy for enterprise customers to train their own customized LLMs using their private data, while still protecting their data privacy and security. The new cloud based service with Cohere is nothing new for Oracle, as the company’s internal application development teams are already using it on their own system, fine-tuning it and expanding it further. With the increase in specialized large language models, Oracle plans to work with Cohere to help businesses use their precious time and resources more efficiently. Although Amazon Web Services, Google and Microsoft all have their own generative AI services, Oracle has an edge over its competitors because of its expertise in handling large amounts of data in a secure and efficient manner.
