Oracle Teams Up with Coherence to Compete with Microsoft and OpenAI Alliance

Date:

Oracle, the American multinational computer technology corporation, has invested in Cohere, an AI startup that competes with OpenAI, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Sources claim that Oracle will leverage Cohere’s abilities to catch up with bigger cloud rivals who offer services powered by large-language models. Steve Miranda, a senior executive at Oracle, reportedly informed employees that the company plans to sell access to Cohere’s LLMs, similar to how Microsoft sells its Cloud services. Furthermore, the startup’s software, similar to OpenAI’s, will likely be used by Oracle to add AI features to its HR and supply chain management apps. This follows Microsoft’s use of OpenAI’s software to power automation features in Office 365 apps. It is evident that Oracle is investing heavily in AI, and Cohere may play a significant role in enabling them to catch up to market leaders Microsoft and Google.
