Enhancing AI Cooperation: South Korean President Yoon Meets with OpenAI CEO

Date:

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently met to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Altman spoke highly of South Korea, which is already one of the world’s leading users of OpenAI’s ChatGPT tool for AI chatbots. Altman suggested that the country could play a significant role in building the tool even further by expanding its advanced chip manufacturing capabilities.

During the meeting, Altman also suggested that South Korea is well-suited for investment in new startups. He hailed South Korea‘s culture as being very innovative and led by creative minds that continue to drive the use of AI technology. Altman added that he was looking forward to deepening the current collaboration between the country and OpenAI.

President Yoon wholeheartedly agreed on the need to set global standards for ChatGPT to prevent any potential side effects that may arise from the fast-paced development of technology. Altman thus called for a reduction of AI-product regulations and South Korea to join hands in setting up international protocols.

Home to the world’s two largest memory chip makers, SK hynix and Samsung Electronics, South Korea is well-suited to make significant contributions to OpenAI’s new AI chatbot tool. Commercial demand for such semiconductors will continue to rise, making the country’s involvement in its further development all the more important.
