Zuckerberg Commits to Open Science and Integrating Generative AI in Meta Products

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today that the company is building generative AI into all of its products, with a focus on an open science-based approach to AI research. Zuckerberg said that the company aims to bring generative AI-powered experiences to billions of people in new ways that other companies won’t do.

The CEO highlighted an AI agents playground, an internal-only interface powered by LLaMA where users can have conversations with AI agents and provide feedback to improve systems. Zuckerberg also showcased LLM-powered AI agents with unique personas and skill sets that help and entertain people, saying that the company will bring them to Messenger and WhatsApp first, but explore additional opportunities across Meta‘s family of apps, consumer products, and into the metaverse.

In the meeting, Zuckerberg made a range of AI-related announcements, including that Meta is building a range of generative text, image, and video models. Meta is also developing generative AI-powered experiences. According to a spokesperson from Meta, these AI investments continue to be vital to near-term and long-term success.

These generative AI-powered experiences are in varying phases of development, the spokesperson added.

Zuckerberg concluded that Meta will play a crucial role in the industry by bringing these generative AI capabilities to everyone in new and innovative ways, which others may not do. With this announcement, the company shows its interest in taking artificial intelligence to the next level and achieving new breakthroughs in the field of AI.
