Investing in Indian Startups: OpenAI Cofounder Sam Altman Shows Interest

OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman has expressed a desire to invest in Indian start-ups during a visit to the country. Speaking at an event in Delhi, Altman said we would love to invest in Indian start-ups, and praised India as one of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems. OpenAI launched its venture capital arm late last year, with $100m earmarked for early-stage start-ups. The start-up fund reportedly raised another $175m last month, according to media reports. OpenAI is behind generative AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT. Altman’s trip is part of a longer tour including visits to Israel, Jordan, Qatar, South Korea and the UAE.
