Segway-Ninebot is teaming up with Drover AI and Luna Systems to bring computer vision technology to its e-scooters. The aim is to detect and correct any improper electric scooter riding. The partnerships were announced at the Micromobility Europe event in Amsterdam. Last year, Segway launched its own AI-powered scooter, the S90L, offering a unified means of upgrading advanced rider assistance systems (ARAS). This allowed shared micromobility operators to retrofit Segway’s technology. However, the company realized that it spread itself too thinly and needed to focus on hardware. By partnering with Drover and Dublin-based Luna to integrate their software into Segway’s AI-enabled e-scooters, it can provide a ‘hardware and software’ platform for customers.
