Google’s new AI-powered chatbot, Bard, has been launched and is being compared to other chatbots such as ChatGPT and Bing AI. Although still in beta, Bard is already generating coherent and contextually relevant responses to queries. However, it had an unimpressive launch when it answered a prompt incorrectly during its presentation.
Compared to ChatGPT, which is backed by Microsoft, Bard has some helpful features other chatbots lack, such as integrating Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing users to edit and restart conversations, and a button enabling users to Google responses through the search engine. The interface of Bard is also welcoming and bright.
Despite these features, Bard lacks some essential functions present in other chatbots, such as the ability to save conversations. Moreover, Bing AI’s response time was slower than both ChatGPT and Bard.
Bard’s responses when questioned about history essays or political opinions on leaders were interesting, with examples provided to support his stance, and the ability to clearly identify key figures around the world through his knowledge of history.
Nevertheless, Google is currently keeping a record of all user data, including edits to prompts made in the conversation, so users need to be cautious when sharing personal information with the service.
Bard allows users to copy responses and share responses directly via Gmail drafts or Google Docs. Google is expected to improve and evolve the bot to answer search queries better and faster in the future.
