Google’s AI Support in Vertex AI Now Generally Available

Date:

Google announced that its generative AI support in Vertex AI is now generally available. With the PaLM 2, Imagen, and Codey models, developers can access the features of Vertex AI, which includes generating and classifying text and building multi-turn chat experiences. Furthermore, there’s a text embedding API for semantic search and recommendation engines.

The capabilities were only available to trusted testers until now. Google’s Model Garden, a collection of foundation and task-specific models for enterprise use, also includes Codey and PaLM for Chat. Several Google partners are already leveraging the models, such as Canva, which is using translation to help its non-English speaking users and testing the PaLM model for longer stories from short video clips.

Typeface, a creative business using generative AI, announced its integration with Google’s AI tools and will launch Typeface as a Google Workspace Marketplace plugin. Meanwhile, DataStax’s AstraDB database service now supports vector search for AI models’ long-term memory, and Neo4j has new generative AI features in Vertex AI. The company can transform unstructured data into knowledge graphs, which customers can query using natural language, and enrich the graphs in real-time. Twilio is exploring personalized recommendations for call center agents and automating call summaries using Vertex-powered features.

The announcement was made during Google Cloud Executive Forum, a gathering for customers and partners. With this launch, Google aims to offer modern low-code and no-code solutions for enterprises and developers, making AI more accessible.
