Demand for job candidates proficient in generative AI has surged in recent months, according to an analysis by Adzuna, a job search engine. In May this year, Adzuna advertised 1,496 US job vacancies citing the skill, compared to just three in May 2020. Generative AI is a new term, but its tools have generated significant interest from US companies, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT which triggered the shift. At least 49 US businesses bought ChatGPT in the first quarter, according to Seeking Alpha transcripts analysed by Insider. The average salary for generative AI-related jobs is $146k, while jobs requiring work with ChatGPT pay $133k.
