CNET Improves AI Policy and Revises Archived Stories

Technology news outlet CNET is updating its policy and approach towards artificial intelligence (AI). In a recent memo, the company laid out several promises, including the assertion that stories will not be entirely generated by AI tools. Additionally, human experts will continue to conduct hands-on reviews and testing of products. CNET has also committed not to publish images or videos generated with artificial intelligence, at least for the time being. However, the company intends to explore the use of AI to sort and analyze data and to create outlines for stories, analyze existing text, and generate explanatory content. The in-house tool used by CNET is called Responsible AI Machine Partner (RAMP).
