Tech Copywriter Replaced by ChatGPT Turns to Dog Walking

Date:

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard are causing concern among workers all over the world. People wonder if machines can replace human creativity, and some jobs may become automated. One woman lost her copywriting job at a tech startup when ChatGPT was implemented, so she chose to walk dogs instead.

Olivia Lipkin, a San Francisco resident, wrote for a tech company and didn’t pay much attention to ChatGPT when it was introduced. However, as more people in her office began using the AI chatbot, Olivia grew anxious. Eventually, she was dismissed from her position without being given a reason. According to The Washington Post, her co-workers even referred to her as Olivia/ChatGPT.

Olivia was disheartened when she realized that ChatGPT replaced her job. She considered moving into content marketing, but the job was too stressful to continue. Instead, she left the corporate world and now works as a dog walker.

Olivia told the publication that she is taking a break from the office world. Many people want the cheapest option, which is a robot instead of a person. This year, a survey conducted by job advice platform Resumebuilder.com showed that some US firms have already substituted ChatGPT for human personnel.

The survey was completed by 1,000 business executives, and almost half of the US firms confirmed they had replaced personnel with ChatGPT. Leaders are eager to streamline workplaces using artificial intelligence, says Stacie Haller, Chief Career Advisor at Resumebuilder.com. Despite the excitement surrounding ChatGPT, employees must consider how this technology could impact their job duties, she added.
