Japanese Daiwa Brokerage Firm Empowers Workforce with AI-Powered ChatGPT

Daiwa Securities Group, a Japanese brokerage firm, has enabled its 9,000 employees to use AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT to streamline its retail business and help traders execute orders for corporate customers more efficiently. Daiwa is empowering its workforce with AI, training staff to become experts in the field, according to Seiji Nakata, a senior executive at the company. Science, technology, engineering, and maths degree holders account for 21% of new college graduates hired by Daiwa this year and this is expected to increase to 50% in the future. Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan Chase are also leveraging AI in financial operations. Interest in AI is growing in Japan with Softbank Group’s mobile unit proposing to build a version of ChatGPT and MUFG preparing to enable employees to use the chatbot for daily work.
