Apple’s Need for a 2-in-1 MacBook

Date:

Apple has long resisted the trend of manufacturing 2-in-1 laptops, which combine the benefits of having a touch screen with a multi-mode form factor. However, with declining sales, the company may need to reconsider its stance. While the firm has always encouraged consumers to buy both its laptops and iPads, this approach may no longer be feasible in the current climate. By offering cheaper and more versatile products, Apple could encourage customer loyalty and simultaneously address its decreasing sales figures.
2-in-1 laptops not only come with touch screen and stylus support but also offer different modes for various needs. From digital planners and note-taking functions in tablet mode, to unwinding after work with tent mode and presenting reports in presentation mode, these laptops are versatile. Apple could develop a MacBook with similar functionalities, revolutionizing its current model.
While the iPad has the potential to be Apple’s 2-in-1 alternative when paired with a Magic Keyboard, it is limited by the mobile app functionality.
If it wants to stay ahead of the game, Apple needs to innovate its MacBook design and offer a more maximalist look. It is not enough to offer just slight design changes; the company needs to take risks to bring excitement back to its products. Offering a MacBook 2-in-1 is a start and could potentially get Apple out of its innovation slump.
If the company continues to resist change, it risks its products becoming even more derivative, making it difficult to establish differentiation and maintain customer interest.
