Diablo 4 runs perfectly at 8K resolution, but 16K is too much.

Date:

The highly-anticipated sequel to the iconic RPG game Diablo has arrived, and it doesn’t disappoint. Diablo 4 feels most at home on PC, despite being available on consoles, so testers fired up an 8K gaming PC to test it out at silly resolutions. The game’s fast and frantic play, along with its impressive graphical effects, put their rig to the test. Diablo 4 comes with a host of graphical options on PC, as well as support for Nvidia’s DLSS tech, using AI to upscale images while keeping high resolutions. Initial testing without DLSS produced decent results with an average of 50.8fps at 8K, but the frame rate never reached the ideal benchmark of 60fps. Nvidia’s DLSS improved performance, allowing the game to hit 59.5fps while retaining image quality. However, the biggest downside of upscaling to 8K, according to testers, is that it limits the performance of the game, making 4K a better option for squeezing out every possible frame. After accidentally turning up the resolution to 200%, causing the game to crash, testers concluded that 16K gaming is still a pipe dream. Despite the hype, Diablo 4 at 8K is a beastly good time, but 16K breaks it.
