OpenAI CTO Promotes Scam Token ‘OPENAI’ on Twitter

Date:

OpenAI CTO Mira Murati’s Twitter account was hacked, and the hacker used it to promote a scam crypto token backed by the company. The scam token was called ‘OPENAI’ and was described as a groundbreaking token driven by artificial intelligence-based language models. The hacker provided a link to a phishing website that was designed to look like a copy of an actual project called ChainGPT. The fake website prompted visitors to connect their crypto wallet and lured investors into transaction signing requests, allowing the hacker to transfer NFTs and ERC-20 tokens from the victim’s wallet. The hack was carried out by a repeat offender in the art of phishing scams named Pink Drainer, who has already drained $1.8 million from over 500 victims since May 30. Murati has not released any clarifying statement from her account since the incident.

OpenAI is a research organization that aims to create a safe and beneficial AI. The organization is known for its work on natural language processing and deep learning.

Mira Murati is the CTO of OpenAI. She has previously worked in the software industry and has contributed to several open-source projects. Murati has also published papers on graph algorithms and machine learning.
