Squint secures funding to expand AR-driven technology platform

Date:

Squint, a technology platform that uses augmented reality (AR) to optimize factory procedures, has raised $6 million in combined seed and pre-seed funding. The AR platform offers operators a mobile experience that provides dynamic assistance aligned with their immediate surroundings, accelerating learning and enhancing knowledge retention. Squint’s technology enables organizations to effortlessly digitize standard operating procedures, freeing up an IT team and reliant solely on mobile phones. Hence training, operation, and maintenance can be carried out more effectively and safely. With the new funding, Squint aims to expand its computer vision, AR, and AI verticals. The company’s portfolio includes Siemens and The Volvo Group.

Jess Lee, Partner at Sequoia, said Squint’s value proposition is resonating with large enterprise customers such as Siemens and Volvo, citing founder Devin Bushant as a leading expert in enterprise AR. Squint’s platform is the only AR solution that uses an open-world approach, which permits content creation on-site without QR codes or 3D models. Squint’s self-guided teaching format empowers operators to pause at each procedural step, absorbing content through their preferred media. In traditional training scenarios, operators might feel embarrassed or hesitant to interrupt a trainer for help; instructions are always available on the Squint app, reducing costly errors and boosting productivity.
