Nvidia has unveiled its Nvidia Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE) for Games at Computex, showcasing smarter AI-based non-playable characters (NPCs) for gaming applications. ACE is a custom AI model foundry service that brings intelligence to NPCs through AI-powered natural language interactions. The platform allows middleware, tools and game developers to build and deploy customized speech, conversation and animation AI models for their software and games. Nvidia’s collaboration with Convai, a member of Nvidia’s AI-focused Inception startup program, demonstrated how developers can use ACE’s tools to build NPCs that reply to natural language queries realistically and consistently with the narrative backstory. ACE for Games will help developers fine-tune models for their games while delivering optimized AI foundation models for speech, conversation and character animation.
