Nvidia and MediaTek Team Up to Develop Advanced AI Technology for Vehicles

Date:

Nvidia and MediaTek have formed a partnership to develop advanced technology for vehicle infotainment systems. This system will enable drivers to stream movies or games and communicate with each other using artificial intelligence (AI). The partnership was announced during the Computex technology trade show held in Taipei. MediaTek will incorporate Nvidia’s graphic processing unit chiplet and software into the system-on-chips it supplies to car manufacturers, and the chips are mainly used in infotainment displays in cars. Furthermore, Nvidia’s technology-based automated driving systems will be compatible with MediaTek’s chip systems with Nvidia software, allowing Nvidia to broaden its reach into the $12bn market for infotainment system-on-chips in-vehicle systems. MediaTek’s vice chairman and CEO, Rick Tsai, said that the partnership with Nvidia will allow both companies to provide a unique platform for the software-defined vehicle of the future.

Nvidia, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California is a technology company that designs graphics processing units. They also develop system-on-a-chip units for the mobile computing and automotive market. Nvidia has grown to become one of the world’s largest and most successful computer hardware manufacturers, with a range of products that includes high-performance GPUs for gaming, data centres, and deep learning applications.

The CEO of Nvidia is Jensen Huang, a Taiwanese-American entrepreneur who co-founded the company and has overseen its growth since 1993. Huang leads Nvidia’s efforts to push the boundaries of computing technology, and he has been instrumental in the development of Nvidia’s graphics processing unit (GPU) technology. Huang is a well-known and respected figure in the technology industry, having previously worked at LSI Logic and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) before co-founding Nvidia.
