Hundreds of new songs featuring the voice of Grimes, a Canadian artist, are about to hit streaming platforms such as Spotify. Daouda Leonard, the CEO of CreateSafe – a digital asset management platform – was the one to announce this, revealing that hundreds of tracks have been created by musicians using her AI voice.
Grimes has already teased two of the tracks on her Twitter account – “Cold Touch” by Kito and “Concept of Creation” by Ottterlymusic. In April, she declared that everyone who has an AI track approved to be released for distribution can get 50/50 royalties. In order to create an AI-like voice, Grimes invented an open-source platform called Elf.Tech. CreateSafe is also part of this process, by approving tracks and overseeing their distribution on her behalf.
One artist who has made it onto the list is 28-year-old Orrin Campbell from Brooklyn. He and his producer Trap Ninja Boy released the track “Love and War” using Elf.Tech. For Campbell, having his song officially released using a voice that influenced his music is a dream come true.
CreateSafe, since its launch in 2018, has been focused on providing a secure place for creating and sharing digital products. The platform also provides a comprehensive package of services regarding royalty collection, intellectual property control, and far reaching anti-piracy tools.
Orrin Campbell is the perfect example of how the power of the internet and technology can help musicians create innovative music. He has been making music since he was a teenager, creating soundscapes and eventually mixing EDM beats with rap flows. With his latest project, he is aiming to pull off a first-of-its-kind collaboration aided by the artificial voice of Grimes.
