Using ChatGPT Technology for Holographic Cartoon Animals in Looking Glass Devices

Date:

An exciting development is taking place in the world of 3D display systems. Brooklyn-based 3D display startup Looking Glass is gaining traction for its impressive holographic technology that has been wowing viewers for years. However, its offerings can be expensive for corporate buyers and its desktop Portrait model may lack a full feature set. In response, Looking Glass is embracing generative AI and developing conversational holograms powered by ChatGPT responses. These “Liteforms” are set to be fully unveiled at the AWE event in the coming months.

Looking Glass was founded by Shawn Frayne in 2018, aiming to revolutionize 3D display with its holographic technology. This is achieved through their 32- and 65-inch systems which feature high-end 3D imaging for various programs. For a more affordable option, the $399 desktop Portrait was introduced, although it may require additional features for optimum use. Regardless, Frayne made a bold statement that the company was pushing boundaries to create a way to “communicate with” their holograms.

The integration of ChatGPT was key for the development of these Liteform cartoon characters. While Frayne teased this concept back in March, he emphasized that these conversational holograms were “living” and that people could talk to them. Moving forward, it is interesting to think about the possibilities of using voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home with the technology.

Overall, the innovation of Looking Glass in creating lifelike conversational holograms and providing users the opportunity to communicate with them is an impressive feat. As the world continues to delve deeper into the fascinating realm of 3D display systems, it will be interesting to see how Looking Glass’ Liteforms will make a difference in the technology landscape.
