Have A Lot Of Respect For Elon Musk But…’ Satya Nadella Refutes Tesla Boss’s Claim That Microsoft Controls OpenAI:

Last week, Elon Musk engaged in an OpenAI bashing spree and took shots at Microsoft, alleging the tech giant of breaching trust and misusing user data. According to a letter from Elon’s personal lawyer, Alex Spiro, Microsoft had violated the provisions of Twitter’s developer agreement in April. Musk had even threatened to sue Microsoft. Besides data usage, he accused Microsoft of controlling Sam Altman’s OpenAI, claiming he was the one who made it exist.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella spoke in a CNBC programme, refuting Musk’s claims. Nadella expressed his admiration for the billionaire but noted that the allegations were without any proof. He praised OpenAI’s vision of being a non-profit organization, saying Microsoft’s association with the company is merely a commercial partnership, where they have a non-controlling interest. Nadella emphasized that collaborating with a capped profit organization was acceptable.

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research laboratory situated in San Francisco, US. Founded in 2016 by Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, and others, the company is focused towards developing artificial general intelligence (AGI). OpenAI’s primary mission is to ensure AGI’s benefits are as widely and evenly distributed as possible. The company has managed to secure 3 billion dollars in investments with major investors and partners that include Microsoft, Sam Altman, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and Amazon Web Services.

Elon Musk has left no stone unturned in his influence as an innovator and a businessman. With a string of successful business ventures and technological advancements, the entrepreneur is highly admired all over the world. Majority of Elon’s success can be attributed to his earlier investments in Tesla Motors, SolarCity, SpaceX, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and PayPal. Musk is also a vocal critic of some organizations and policies, especially within the artificial intelligence research and development space. Tesla Motors, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company are the companies the billionaire owns and operates.
