5 ChatGPT Plugins Delivering on Their Promises

Date:

Thanks to OpenAI, users of ChatGPT can access over 70 plugins, that are designed to expand the functionality of ChatGPT-4. One of the key functions of the new ChatGPT plugin feature is its ability to access the internet in order to interpret and analyze data. There are many different plugins available, but which ones are worth using and actually do what they promise? Here are five ChatGPT plugins that do what they say they will.

First up, the Scraper plugin which allows users to access any website URL they feed to it. The tool doesn’t involve actual web scraping – rather, it simulates the process and the results of web scraping without actually interacting with any real websites or storing any data. This could be helpful in quickly summarizing information from any website, or parsing the frontpage of Reddit to understand what is trending.

While not entirely useful, there is at least one plugin worth mentioning – “I Am Rich”. This plugin only has one function – it displays the “iamrich.jpg” image when activated with the trigger phrase “I Am Rich”. This is a reference to the costly iPhone app from 2008 which did the same. It is a useless plugin, but it does as promised without costing users.

If you are seeking something more specific for a music playlist, PlaylistAI is a useful tool. This plugin is based on the AI Playlist Maker app from iOS. Users have the ability to be broad or specific with their requests, and PlaylistAI does as promised. However, there is a subscription service for users looking to access more than the initial batch of playlists – this can be bought for $3.99 a month.

For future renters, ChatGPT offers multiple real estate plugins including Zillow, Zumper and Rentable Apartments. All three of these plugins worked as planned when given the same search parameters. The best of the bunch was Zillow, which provided additional descriptions of the units that weren’t linked on the listing.

Finally, for those seeking a bit of entertainment, ChatGPT also offers game plugins. Two of them are word-guessing games, while the other used is Tic Tac Toe with three difficulty settings and the classic 3×3 board size. There is also an option to upgrade to a 4×4, 5×5 or 6×6 board, depending on what the user wants. Games work as intended and, while they are not strictly functional, they can definitely help preoccupy users.

Overall, ChatGPT is constantly expanding its capabilities with the use of plugins. These five plugins are each worth exploring as they do as promised, and greatly increase the speed and range of ChatGPT. Bob Al-Greene of Mashable has a talent in finding some of the more useful plugins, and for that, we thank him.
