ChatGPT App Launches on iOS, Android Follows Closely

Date:

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is bringing the revolutionary chatbot to mobile devices with the launch of a standalone ChatGPT app. Now available through the Apple App Store, the free app packs in much of the power available on the web version, based on user feedback. Not only will the app provide instant answers, precise information, and guidance on a range of topics, but subscribed users can even access their GTP-4 system, early access features, and quicker response times as well.

The exciting announcement comes just days after Microsoft launched its own Bing Chat widget for Android and iOS. Powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the widget lets users talk or text with the AI chatbot and customize its responses to their liking, as well as carry conversations over from phone to computer.

OpenAI is even making the app available to Android users, though it is currently unknown when the app will launch. Last year, Google notably didn’t announce a Bard app for Android devices at Google I/O, instead stating that it’s “committed to rolling out Bard as an experiment” and preferring to keep a “web-only experience” for now.

OpenAI was co-founded in late 2018 by names such as Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Ilya Sutskever. Among its achievements, its work was key in creating GPT-3, the world’s most sophisticated language model that can produce human-like text. As AI continues to develop and evolve, OpenAI’s work is paving the way for new benchmarks to strive for in the tech field.
