Satya Nadella Responds to Elon Musk’s Claim That Microsoft Is ‘Controlling’ OpenAI ChatGPT Maker

Date:

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has recently responded to the claims of outgoing Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, who stated that Microsoft was “controlling” ChatGPT maker, OpenAI. In an interview, Nadella said that OpenAI is steered by a non-profit board and Microsoft has a non-controlling interest in it, in addition to having a great commercial partnership.

In spite of the presence of large tech players such as Microsoft and Google in the AI market, Nadella expressed his confidence that small companies still have the chance to breakthrough in this area. Nadella said that success depends on the product-market fit, however he also recognized the competition posed by other search engine players such as Bing and ChatGPT.

Elon Musk has invested around $1 billion in OpenAI, and was one of the early backers of the company. Despite taking credit for naming the company, Musk had reportedly left the company due to conflicting views regarding the ethical use of AI.

The chatbot-maker, OpenAI, is a leader in AI research that has received funding from Microsoft and other various investors. It has developed several cutting-edge technologies that have helped to lay the foundation for AI development. It also has a wide range of uses, from creating natural language processing (NLP) systems to recruiting and diversifying the best and brightest AI minds in the industry. OpenAI has also conducted research into ethical aspects of AI, such as safeguards against misuse, and concerns along the lines of race and gender bias within algorithms.
