AI Outshines Creators in Content Making, Survey Finds

Date:

At a time when artificial intelligence is being discussed at length, many content creators are turning to it for help with their creative work. According to a new report from The Influencer Marketing Factory, 94.5% of surveyed creators said they use AI, with editing content and image generation being top ways.

The report consists of responses from 1,000 social media users, most of them over 18, and 660 creators from the United States. Of the creators that said they used artificial intelligence, the survey allowed them to choose up to three of six use cases such as editing content, generating video and images, creating text and captions, brainstorming and researching content, and creating emails.

The majority of creators, according to the survey, chose to use AI mainly for editing content and generating images and videos. Alessandro Bogliari, the founder and CEO of The Influencer Marketing Factory, wasn’t surprised with the findings. Tools like RunwayML and Descript have become increasingly popular, mainly with podcasters, while Adobe Premiere Pro has included AI to their video editing function with the ability to remove objects or automatically cut clips.

Creators have also looked to artificial intelligence for image creation, like with DALL-E and Midjourney. Ben Mathews, general partner at VC firm Night Ventures, has highlighted RunwayML as one of the companies his fund should have invested in, and Tejas Hullur, a well-known TikTok creator and newsletter writer, has praised DALL-E for helping him create images with a cohesive branding style quickly.

The survey also noted a few other ways creators are utilizing AI, like for brainstorming content ideas, researching and outlining emails. One of these AI chatbot platforms is ChatGPT, which can generate new content ideas, draft emails, and create contracts and legal agreements.

But despite the hype, Bogliari has stated that the use of AI in creative work is stooping to just content optimization rather than creation, as AI tools lack true storytelling capabilities.
