Educational publisher Pearson recently stated that it has been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its products for many years and that it plans to further increase its use in the near future. This comes just a week after its share prices went down on a warning about the technology ChatGPT from a US-based rival.
Pearson has been developing new features designed to help students, such as software that will encourage them to practice in areas where they need more help. AI tools, or those able to generate text or images, are being designed for the beginning of the autumn semester. According to Pearson’s chief executive, Andy Bird, AI has already been playing an essential role for the portfolio and is expecting to continue.
The recent drop in Pearson’s stocks has been due to a warning from California-based Chegg, a Pearon rival, on the launch of their new version of ChatGPT. Chegg stated that they have not been able to attract as many new users as they had hoped. Dan Rosensweig, the Chegg’s CEO, stated that there has been a spike in students’ interest in ChatGPT.
