iFlytek Unveils SparkDesk to Compete with ChatGPT

Date:

On Saturday, pioneering Chinese artificial intelligence firm, iFlytek, staged a public demonstration of its new model, SparkDesk, which is designed to rival the popular ChatGPT run by the US-based OpenAI research team. The demonstration was held in Hefei, Anhui province.

Chairman Liu Qingfeng unveiled SparkDesk during the public unveiling, which included a series of tests to evaluate the language modeling capabilities of the new AI-powered system. The demonstration included prompts to ask the model questions in both Chinese and English, as well as assessments of essays written by students and stories of what would happen if Confucius attended the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Liu Qingfeng said that the introduction of generative AI – or algorithms that produce textual content, visuals, code, videos and audio material – is a key shift comparable to the invention of the PC or the internet. He made it clear that his team was planning to surpass the capabilities of ChatGPT, which has recently become incredibly popular due to its extensive uses, from bug checks to the composition of business plans.

IFlytek’s AI-enabled services also have potential applications in the automotive, medical and educational industries with hopes of net profit growth of over 30% after 2023. As a result of these possible impacts, Liu urges further research of the services to ensure maximum potential benefits.
