Animal rights organization PETA has enlisted the help of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, to give the Bible’s Book of Genesis a ‘vegan makeover.’ This can be seen as an effort to draw attention to stop animal exploitation and deliver the animal rights message in a way that nobody can miss.
PETA said that the bible has been used to justify oppression of various forms and that they have used the ChatGPT to re-write the Genesis stories so that it becomes clearer that a loving God would never endorse any kind of exploitation or cruelty against animals. One example is that in Genesis Chapter 22, Abraham travels to the land of Moriah, where he ‘befriends a gentle lamb to show his reverence and respect for God’s creation’ instead of slaughtering one to demonstrate his faith.
PETA also mentioned that it was hoping the vegan makeover of the Bible will appeal to a larger audience, as 73% of Generation Z identifies as animal rights activists. The company also released its own version of the creation story which re-writes the story so that Abraham and Sarah adopt a dog named Herbie and instead of wearing animal skin clothing, they use hemp and bamboo.
With animal rights being a central theme to this project, PETA is looking to make sure the message of stopping animal exploitation and cruelty cannot be missed. With the help of ChatGPT, PETA was able to rewrite the Book of Genesis to fit a vegan viewpoint and make sure its message is heard more thoroughly.
