Recently, a team of artificial intelligence (AI) engineers developed a creative solution to an old problem. They equipped a Boston Dynamics robot dog with both OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Text-to-Speech voice. This robot can now understand voice commands and respond to questions faster than control panels. Thanks to its use of ChatGPT and Google Text-to-Speech voice, it can now be used by anyone – not just engineers.
In a viral video posted on Twitter, machine learning engineer Santiago Valdarrama demonstrated the robot’s new capabilities. He showed how the robot can understand and respond to questions related to “configuration files and the mission results” faster than it takes to manually insert the orders.
While this remarkable application of AI offers tremendous potential for businesses, its rapid advances also carry a dark risk. Without proper safeguards, the manipulation of AI for automated and intelligent robots could lead to movements similar to Skynet – the dystopian superintelligent computer system seen in the Terminator films.
Santiago Valdarrama is a machine learning and artificial intelligence engineer from Venezuela. After his studies in computer engineering and programming, he specialized himself in machine learning and ecommerce system development. Valdarrama works as a Lead Engineer at a major software group in Miami, where he oversees the development of projects that involve AI and robotics.
