Amazon’s Latest AI Technology Enables Podcasts Through Amazon Music

Date:

Amazon recently acquired Snackable AI, a startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Snackable is an audio intelligence startup, which uses AI to instantly scan long audio clips to create “chapters, highlights and more.” That makes it easy for people to find parts of a podcast without having to listen to the entire episode. The company is based in Sydney and moved to California in 2019. The acquisition was first announced on the Product Hunt forum.

Corinne Reichert is the founder and CEO of Snackable. She moved to the U.S. in 2019 and presently oversees the CNET breaking news desk for the West Coast. She holds degrees in law and communications and covers topics ranging from phones, social media, security to movies, politics, 5G and pop culture. In her free time, Corinne enjoys watching soccer games, F1 races and Disney movies.

As part of Amazon Music’s portfolio, Mari Joller, the founder and CEO of Snackable is now working as an AI and machine learning product leader. She is setting up AI-powered products for Amazon Music Pods. This can be seen on her LinkedIn page where she has updated her profile to reflect the change.

Amazon Web Services has also been making use of Artificial Intelligence with their most recent launch, Amazon Bedrock, a service that allows developers and companies to improve their software using AI. In addition, Amazon’s CodeWhisperer, an AI coding partner, is now available for free to create code for Amazon services. Earlier this year, there was a call to labs from a collective of Elon Musk, Apple’s Steve Wozniak and others to pause the development of AI for a minimum of six months due to its “profound risks.”

Amazon’s AI developments have been interesting to follow and it has been definitely been making headways with their projects. With AI technology becoming more mainstream, it will be important to keep an eye out on how the technology develops and changes in the future.
