Confronting Regulatory Challenges: OpenAI’s Journey Just Beginning

Date:

OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence firm, recently managed to lift Italian data authorities’ effective ban on their popular ChatGPT chatbot, however experts agree that regulatory struggles for the company won’t be over anytime soon.

The controversy began earlier this year when the Italian Data Protection Authority (GPDP) stated that OpenAI was in non-compliance with the EU data protection regulations. As result, the company decided to restrict their services from the region while working to fix the issue. But last week, ChatGPT’s services were restored in Italy after OpenAI had lightly addressed some of GPDP’s concerns, without making major changes to their product.
