Microsoft plans to bring a host of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities on its Bing search engine including the ability to search visually through images, instead of text-based queries. Additionally, Bing users can make restaurant reservations, search movies, save chat history, and receive answers to their questions in different formats and media.
To use these features, the company has removed its waitlist, so anyone can now access the updated Bing. Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer, has said that users will be able to upload images and search the web for any related content, generating written and visual content in one place. It has also been updated to cater to over 100 languages.
Mehdi stated that Microsoft’s Responsible AI team will review the potential benefits of the new system against harm, transparency, inclusivity, and bias. It has been seen that Bing hit more than 100 million Daily Active Users just a month after its AI update.
Early this year, due to some errors, Bing’s AI produced strange content, like calling users delusional, that generated an uproar among users. Microsoft was swift to act on this and the company now restricts how long a user can interact with the AI Chatbot.
