A recent report, released in partnership by Data Theorem and TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) surveyed 397 organizations and found that an alarming 92% of these experienced at least one Application Programming Interface (API) related security incident in the past 12 months. Likewise, 57% experienced multiple API security incidents — which highlights the need for organizations to strengthen the protection of their cloud-native applications and APIs.
To properly address these kinds of threats, organizations ought to consider investing in API security tools, cloud-native application protection platforms (CNAPPs), and integration application security/API security tools. ESG Senior Analyst, Melinda Marks, pointed out in the press release that modern development cycles involve many more and frequent product releases and updates. This, in turn, makes it harder to defend against cyber criminals and creates chances to expose more vulnerable coding.
Data Theorem provides automated security to help protect cloud-native applications, APIs and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). By providing threat discovery and identification of API attack surfaces, the team can help organizations find, inventory, and secure the hundreds of APIs connected to their applications. Their services drastically reduce the risk of API security incident by being 360° aware of API configuration and usage.
To discuss further the need of cloud-native application and API security, leading executives have been invited to a July 11-12 event in San Francisco. During this event, industry leaders will be able to share their ideas on how to best integrate and optimize AI investments for success.
The report is set to be released on May 5 and it provides valuable insight for organizations and developers. It is up to the organization to ultimately determine what investments and strategies are best in order to protect their cloud native applications and APIs against threats.
