Vitalik Buterin Finds Value in ChatGPT and Artificial Intelligence

Date:

Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, recently took an interest in OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence (AI). After experimenting with the chatbot, Vitalik has crafted a lengthy blog post that details his experience. He particularly praised ChatGPT’s ability to reduce the barriers between amateurs and professionals when tackling real world problems.

For instance, Vitalik posed to ChatGPT how to write a script to calculate expected public transit time between two given GPS coordinates. The chatbot responded efficiently with programs and datasets that fine-tune the query for accuracy. Additionally, ChatGPT even responded with links to additional resources should Vitalik need more information. After providing additional details, the answer included a scatter plot of time-distance pairs that help optimize the travel time of public transportation. ChatGPT even provided a script to interpret data from online resources.

Vitalik concluded that “there is a surprisingly precise relationship governing travel time from point A to point B that somehow holds across such radically different transit media as walking, subways and buses, airplanes and (!!) interplanetary and hypothetical interstellar spacecraft.”

Buterin is greatly impressed with ChatGPT in teaching him about online libraries and application programming interfaces (API) that were completely new to him. He believes that the chatbot is highly efficient in unifying the gap between experts and novices in technical and information-oriented fields.

ChatGPT has quickly gotten a hold of the public for its interactive and user-friendly interface. It can perform various tasks ranging from programming to research, therefore allowing users a more straightforward path to finding the answers they need.

OpenAI is a research laboratory based in San Francisco that brings AI to the public by creating products that anyone can use. Headed by co-founders Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever, the company aims to make the world’s most powerful AI technologies available to everyone.

Vitalik Buterin, who was born in Russia in 1994, is an Ethereum founder and programmer who is best known as the inventor of the Ethereum blockchain. His motivation to create Ethereum was to facilitate the development of decentralized applications. To do so, Vitalik created the blockchain-based cryptocurrency Ether, which has since been used in major projects like the Raiden Network, OmiseGO and Status. Vitalik has also received a Thiel Fellowship and is a part of the Thiel Foundation’s 20 Under 20 program for innovators.
