Vimeo, a popular video hosting platform, has introduced three new artificial intelligence (AI) tools aimed at simplifying the video editing process for creators. The platform hopes that these new tools will benefit individuals who lack the time, skills, or resources to create and edit videos effectively.
The first tool is a text-based video editor that allows users to simplify the editing process. With a single click, the tool removes pauses and filler words, such as um and ah, that may be present in the video. The tool generates a transcript which the user can search for specific terms and delete any unwanted parts of the video. For those who desire to create short videos for social media, they can search for a specific word, highlight it, and select keep only this for the desired clip.
Ashraf Alkarmi, Vimeo’s chief product officer, stated that incorporating AI technology had decreased the time-consuming and troublesome process for customers. The platform’s primary objective is to improve its customers’ experiences. Vimeo claims that the implementation of AI integration will expedite the video creation process for users with limited prior production experience.
Additionally, Vimeo offers a script generator that uses OpenAI technology to create a complete script based on the user’s text prompt, chosen tone, and desired video length. The generator is a part of Vimeo’s API and is integrated into the editing suite.
Lastly, there is a new on-screen teleprompter that displays the script written by the user. The tool assists creators in staying on the script while maintaining eye contact with the camera.
These AI features are available to all Vimeo subscribers of standard and pro subscriptions. Users can test them for free during the seven-day trial, but must subsequently subscribe, costing $20 per month if billed annually.
Vimeo hopes that this new technology will allow users to create videos quickly and efficiently without requiring substantial production experience. These tools are expected to assist creators in focus on the creative aspects of video creation, rather than spending copious amounts of time on editing and production.
