Vietnam’s Tech Giants Show No Interest in ChatGPT

Date:

Vietnam’s leading tech firms, including VNG, Vingroup, and BKAV, are yet to develop language models that rival ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based (AI) chatbot tool. ChatGPT has been a game-changer for AI applications as it is an interface for people without a technology background. The new standard in the market has prompted big organizations to reassess their chatbot development. According to a survey by the HCM City Department of Information and Communications, 48% of 1,000 surveyed enterprises have used ChatGPT in their work, while 25% claimed that it has replaced workers, thus helping to save hundreds of thousands of dollars. Although Vietnamese start-ups LovinBot and VoiceGPT launched similar chatbot platforms after ChatGPT was introduced, the country’s major tech firms are yet to produce similar AI products. Instead, the firms are focusing on enhancing their current AI solutions, and Viettel Cyberspace Center (VTCC) and FPT Smart Cloud claimed ChatGPT’ processing speed is slow, and the costs are much higher than existing AI chatbot services.
